Energy Efficiency Meets Style with Duette Architella Honeycomb Shades
Pat and I worked together recently on a new home in the west Denver Metro area that had a gorgeous view of the mountains. Our clients needed window coverings for the home and we had our work cut out for us! While the large windows throughout the home were absolutely gorgeous and provided a stunning view, the sun was heating up the rooms and would eventually bleach out the gorgeous hardwood floors and furniture.
So, we went to work to find window coverings that would keep their gorgeous view, but address their needs as well. After discussing these needs with our clients, Duette Architella Honeycombs became the obvious choice to place throughout the home to address the insulation, privacy, and light control issues. Duette Architella is one of the most energy efficient options for window coverings. Duette Architella is a honeycomb shade that has a cell within a cell, providing four layers of fabric insulation per window while still allowing light to filter in the room creating a beautiful glowing light.
The top down bottom up operating system worked perfectly in their dining area to provide maximum light control so they could still have their beautiful view, but keep the heat and the glare out. The fabric and color choice helped create a soft, warm feel in this gorgeous house.
Our client also needed operating systems that were child safe as they had a young child in the home. We were able to use the Ultraglide system throughout most of the home. This system is great because the cord never gets longer and does not hang on the floor like standard cord lock systems do. It also does not have any loops that children or animals can get caught in. In some rooms we were able to use the cordless LiteRise system which just has a handle on the bottom of the shade that you lift up or down instead of a cord. This system is the most child safe system in the industry next to the PowerRise option currently. We were also able to put a dark color fabric in the child’s room to help cut down more of the light for daytime naps, but still allow enough light in that the parents could see where they were walking.
