Considering Roller Shades?

Designer Roller Shades in the Bedroom

Roller shades will never go out of style and can easily match any décor. They offer a sleek modern style with remarkably smooth operation and ease of lifting and are available in hundreds of fabric choices, opacities, textures, and solids. At Bretz Interiors serving the greater Denver area, we’ll be happy to show you the benefits.

New Design

Roller shades continue to be the best-selling window treatments on the market. The operating mechanism hasn’t changed much over the years, but the shade has become more durable. The one drawback to roller shades is the light gap that comes from the sides of the shade when installed inside the window frame. One side of the roller shade has a clutch to raise and lower the shade. As a result, the fabric on the control side leaves a light gap for the clutch to operate. So Hunter Douglas has recognized the need to modernize and streamline this classic shade. They have developed a new, ultra-slim system called custom clutch, which is attached to the bracket so it offers the smallest light gap in decades. This streamlined clutch allows the fabric of the shade to be cut larger for better coverage. Yes, there is still a small light gap on each side of the shade; however, it is minimal and provides greater privacy. This simple functionality combined with a classic look is just one of many reasons roller shades remain a popular choice in window treatments.

Design Benefits

The new design includes nine custom hardware colors to coordinate with the shade fabric. You can also upgrade to a designer metal bracket in pearl chrome or burnished chestnut for a more contemporary look.

Mounting Your Roller Shade

Did you know that you have two choices for mounting your roller shade inside the window frame? The first is called “regular roll.” This means the fabric will roll off the back of the tube closest to the glass. This is the preferred way to have the fabric roll when seeking more privacy and the least amount of light leakage. Your second option is called “reverse roll.” The shade fabric will unroll off the front of the tube, further away from the glass. With this option, you will have less privacy and more light leakage. You might need to consider this option if you have a double-hung window. Although you may have enough mounting space to do a regular roll on your shade, you may not have enough space for the material as it drops in front of the lower window.
