Meet The Design Studio™
If you haven’t yet met The Design Studio from Hunter Douglas, let us introduce you. At Bretz Interiors here in Lakewood, we love The Design Studio because it gives our customers the confidence that they’re choosing well-coordinated and stylish looks for the windows in their homes. Read on to learn how The Design Studio could benefit you and your home!
A Little Help With Styling
“The Art of Layering at the Window” is a handy tool that will give you a clear, step-by-step process for finding complementary and coordinating looks for your windows. It offers options for “perfect pairings,” fabric folios, and suggested combinations for various product lines. You can’t go wrong!
Where to Start
You’ll want to determine the base layer first. This is the product that will go directly against the window—for example, you could choose a blind, shade, or shutter. Options include Designer Banded Shades, Duette® Honeycomb Shades, Provenance® Woven Wood Shades, and more. This layer is for light control and energy efficiency at the window, and you can choose solid or textured, neutral or colored materials.
Customize Your Second Window Treatment Layer
Your selection here will give your window drama, depth, and style. One option is side panels or drapery. Side panels frame the window to add dimension and beauty. Drapery can fully cover the window to provide additional privacy and light control. For your fabric, choose from the core Design Studio line or from the featured artist collection (right now highlighting selections from textile designer Rebecca Atwood). You can find fabrics that will coordinate with or complement the base layer you already chose.
Choose From Coordinating Selections
The experts at Hunter Douglas offer suggestions for coordinating with tone-on-tone looks for neutrals, colors, or textures. They also suggest contrasts with color or patterns, to bring out an accent color in the room, to highlight a color from a patterned undertreatment, or to add a color that you just love. In The Design Studio, Hunter Douglas offers “folios” of fabrics that will work well together—you’ll get some great ideas of things that will match well together.
