In fact, we often have customers tell us that they don’t want to put window treatments on their windows for fear of losing their view. And we get it. What’s not to love about those mountains? However, west-facing windows get lots of direct sunlight, which includes damaging UV rays and lots of heat, especially in the summer. The Proper Window Treatment
To fully enjoy your view, selecting the proper window treatment is key. Adding layers of fabric to your window will pull your focus back into the room. Horizontal and vertical blinds with smaller slats will modestly obstruct your view, although they do provide privacy and directional lighting. To truly take in your outside view, consider one of these:
- Silhouette® Window Shades are the perfect solution. This shade has soft S-curved vanes that float between two sheer fabrics. When lowered you’ll be able to control the light coming into your room as well as achieving a level of privacy, and you’ll still be able to enjoy your view. And now, Hunter Douglas has introduced specialized front and rear sheers to enhance the view-through of the standard Silhouette. These translucent sheers are available on two different fabric choices, Originale™ and Tapestry™. Both come in 3″ and 4″ vane options. If your outside view is most important, we recommend going with the 4″ vane for optimal view
- Pirouette® Window Shades also have internal vanes. When the vanes are flattened and smooth, your shade will look reminiscent of a custom shutter. If you slightly raise the vanes, you’ll get a gently contoured look similar to a traditional Roman shade. Fully open the vanes for the look of a horizontal blind to provide a clear view to the outside. Of course, you can also roll the shade up so the fabric completely disappears into the headrail, giving you an unobstructed view outdoors
