At Bretz Interiors serving the greater Denver area, we carry the full line of Hunter Douglas window treatments for any space from the living room to the bathroom. And that includes great treatments for kitchen windows. If you’re unsure of what would work best for your kitchen needs, check out our five suggestions below, and be sure to contact one of our consultants for more regarding your specific situation.

A Kitchen’s Unique Needs

Because of the activities of a kitchen, where the window treatment will be is especially important. If the window is near where food prep or cooking can cause grease splatters or steam can impact them, treatments made of easily cleanable faux wood or vinyl might be best. If the window is farther away from that kind of “danger,” treatments made of other materials like fabric or woven wood could do well. That all said, here are five types of treatment we frequently recommend to our customers for their kitchens:

  • Best for windows away from the threat of grease, sheer shadings are a good choice if you want to preserve a view. They can soften light entering the space and leave the room with a welcoming glow. Hunter Douglas offers Silhouette® Window Shadings, which are designed with the Signature S-Vane™ that appears to be floating between two sheers, and Pirouette® Window Shadings, which offer beautifully contoured fabric vanes attached to a sheer backing.
  • If you’re looking for a touch of class and elegance in your kitchen, modern Roman Shades could be your answer. They combine the softness of drapery with crisp, clean folds, and, especially in kitchens that are all white or include lots of stainless steel, Vignette® Modern Roman Shades add a hint of pizzazz.
  • To best withstand grease and other cooking offshoots, faux wood blinds or shutters are a solid choice—they look just like genuine wood but are more durable. Everwood® Alternative Wood Blinds are guaranteed not to fade, warp, yellow, or bow, even when exposed to extreme heat. Palm Beach™ Polysatin™ Shutters are more resistant to stains than genuine wood and are guaranteed not to chip, warp, or crack, even in kitchen environments.
  • If you’re looking to soften the look of hard surfaces and kitchen appliances, woven wood shades, made from natural materials like grasses, reeds, and bamboo, can help. Provenance® Woven Wood Shades are durable, able to withstand sun to hold their shape over time. They’ll resist stretching, bowing, fading, and breaking.
  • Cellular Shades like Duette® Honeycomb Shades are aesthetically pleasing and, with their honeycomb design, will help insulate at the window. They’re available in a variety of fabrics, colors, and textures, and you can choose from several pleat sizes and opacities.
