The 2020 Pantone Color of the Year!

Pantone Classic Blue

You’ve probably seen that numerous places—especially paint stores—have been claiming to know the color of the year. But in reality, the first place to have done it is truly the expert. In 1999, the Pantone Color Institute named Cerulean the Color of the Year, and ever since, they’ve applied industry knowledge and experience to predict each year’s color. At Bretz Interiors serving the greater Denver area, we know that color can be confusing. But if you listen to the experts, it shouldn’t have to be a dilemma anymore. Read on to learn more about this year’s color of the year!

Drumroll, Please

The Pantone Color Institute has named Classic Blue as 2020’s color of the year. This name brings us full circle to Cerulean, another blue hue. Just as it was right before Y2K, blue seems to be a fitting color when the instability is gripping the world today. The color offers the confidence, reassurance, and connection that people are searching for. “It’s a color that anticipates what’s going to happen next,” said Laurie Pressman, the vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “What’s the future going to bring as we move into the evening hours?”

Using Classic Blue in the Home

Incorporating Classic Blue can transform your home in a regal and boundless way by using a variety of materials and prints. Add a lot of color for a dramatic look or a little color to simply brighten up your room. For example, Go Bold with wallpaper or paint on the walls and ceilings; Add Dimension with furniture, bedding, and flooring; or Add Accent Color with throw pillows, area rugs, lamps, artwork, and vases. Like furniture and bedding, window treatments add dimension. And Hunter Douglas can transform your windows with a variety of collections that offer the Classic Blue color, such as Duette® Honeycomb Shades, Designer Banded Shades, Design Studio Draperies and Drapery Panels, Solera® Soft Shades, roller shades, Modern Precious® Metals aluminum blinds, and more.
