About Layered Shades

Also known as banded shades (and even zebra shades, although they aren’t patterned with the animal or striped in black and white), layered shades are a nuanced window covering that elevates the look and functionality of a traditional roller shade or horizontal blind. Layered shades are just that: two layers of shade in one treatment. One layer is sheer, and the other is solid, and they combine to give you new options for controlling light.

Designer Banded Shades

Layered shades from Hunter Douglas are termed Designer Banded Shades. You can choose from small, medium, and large band heights to suit your needs—larger band heights offer more view-through. They’re available in a variety of fabrics, from light-filtering to room-darkening, and in numerous colors. The line even comes in a geometric pattern that offers a modern, unexpected look. Controlling light is as easy as shifting the solid and sheer fabrics: when solid aligns with solid, you have more light and view-through; when solid aligns with sheer, you have the effect of a closed window shade. These beautiful shades offer dimensional light and visual interest at the window.

Flexibility

If you have multiple windows in one room, don’t worry about an uneven appearance, because the bands can align on adjacent windows, giving you a clean, consistent look throughout the room. You can add a beautiful fabric-wrapped top treatment to round out the look and give it more elegance. And you can use these shades to cover large windows as well as small. Plus, they work well on bay and corner windows as well as patio or sliding glass doors.

Lift Systems

You can select from numerous operating systems to get the most of your designer banded shades. The standard system is the clutch-operated continuous cord loop. You can also choose the SoftTouch® battery-operated system or the UltraGlide® retractable cord or wand system. For the ultimate in convenience and functionality, you can choose the PowerView® motorized system, which lets you operate the shades from a distance, either using the Pebble® Remote or an app from your smartphone or tablet.
