All across the country, some interior design trends have popped up, mostly in response to the past year of pandemic life. At Bretz Interiors serving the greater Denver area, we keep tabs on what’s trending and will be happy to help you determine if it makes sense for your home. Read on to learn more!

Work Space

With many people working (or learning) from home—and with that trend continuing with some businesses—people needed to get creative about where their work space would be. With an entire family trying vying for work space, no longer can the kitchen table serve as the central spot. Instead, many people want to create distinct personal areas. One solution is Skyline® Gliding Window Panels, which can hang anywhere in a room to create a clear boundaries when needed and can be retracted when the room needs to be fully open.

Biorhythms

One drawback to working from home is, well, never leaving home. Changing from place to place helps instill a sense of time, but being inside all day disrupts that natural sense. Ensuring that natural light plays a key role in the home throughout the day is one way to combat the issue. Choosing window fashions that control light while still offering its benefits can improve biorhythms. And, going a step further, using PowerView® Motorization, which can be programmed to open and close based on local sunrise and sunset times or daily activities, can help people’s bodies and minds reacclimate to natural day and night rhythms.

Antibacterial and Cleanable Materials

Even before the pandemic, antibacterial and easy-clean materials were trending in home design, and 2020 only increased that. Washable floor coverings have become very popular, as well as items made from natural fibers that are inherently antibacterial, such as bamboo and oak (which naturally prevents bacteria from growing). Hunter Douglas offers window treatments made from natural materials, such as Provenance® Woven Wood Shades.
